Day 0 - We kicked off our trip by boarding the night train from New Jalpaiguri Junction (NJP) to Guwahati (GHY).

Day 1 - Early morning when the train whistled informing us of our destination, our eyes were eager to explore the natural beauty of the Meghalaya. However, there's still 5 hrs road trip to Shillong from Guwahati Railway Station. After reaching the Railway Station, quickly we loaded our luggage in the Private Cab and headed to Shillong.

Now, in between Guwahati and Shillong, there comes a lake, known as Umiam Lake. we decided to take a break and headed towards the Lake. The view of the lake was mesmerising. Now a popular tourist destination, we couldn't help ourselves but take a boat ride around the lake. The surroundings of the lake was very neat and clean, greenery all around with flowers blossoming and adding different colors to the scenery.

After having breakfast and enjoying the boat ride, we spent some time sitting near the lake. Now, instead of checking in Hotel and then going our for sightseeing, you see, our plan was to minimise the time spent on journey and unnecessary things and maximise the enjoyment and experience, so we directly headed to our next destination, which was none other than the Elephant Falls.

Elephant Falls, what a refreshing view, just sitting near the falls, listening the melody of the falls, dipping our legs in the pool, the cold water made tiredness vanish in an instant. What was surprising to me personally was, I kept looking for the symbol of elephant on a display or rock after which the name is given but couldn't see any. Later googled to find out that the rock which resembled elephant was destroyed in earthquake. The stairs to the falls are steep and slippery, one needs to be careful though.

Thereafter we proceeded to Ward's Lake, Laitlum Canyon where we had a great time. Our driver was suggesting us to go to Museum and all but we had other plans. We wanted our trip to confine to nature and natural beauty.

Next stop on our list was none other than the Nohkalikai Falls. On one side u can see the gigantic fall and on the opposite side to the fall, far outstretched we can witness several other falls. We took a small break there enjoying the views and absorbing the positive vibes.

Our day came to an end with beautiful memories in Shillong. We had booked our stay outside Shillong in Hotel Silver Brook Resort, as our aim was to be amidst nature and avoid the hush hush of city traffic and sound.

Day 2 - We started off from Shillong, Checked Out from Hotel and headed towards Cherrapunjee, which is most famous for its Living Root Bridges and Vegetative Forests.

One the way there is a point where one can do sports activities, like Zip Lining from one side of Hill to another. Seeing others enjoy the ride, we too wanted to do but our brain was busy highlighting the calculation of depths, quality of ropes and all, and finally between a tussle of brain and heart, brain won and we decided to give it a pass.

We explored the Mawsmai Cave which was a breathtaking journey. The pavement to the entrance of the cave was as if we are crossing amidst a jungle. One can hear sounds of birds chirping and animals, small falls on the way and mist in the air which gave us chill. Surprisingly we were the only ones to visit the cave, as such we were a bit hesitant to enter the cave. We waited for other tourists to arrive. After half an hour or so, a group came and we went along with them inside the cave. The cave was endless and we kept on going. Later we realised that we were the only left in cave as others had already left by then. To our surprise all of a sudden the lights went out and it was complete dark. Our heart paused a beat, we gathered our strength and quickly switched on the light of our cell phone. Thankfully, within a minute or so lights were back. Without wasting any more time, we hurriedly headed for the exit point.

There was another cave nearby which we visited, the cave was small and was crowded with tourists. Interesting thing about the cave was we had to go inside the cave bare foot as there was water till our knees. That was kind of adventurous, climbing up and down, small passages and water droplets dripping on ur head inside the caves, we had a great time.

Next we visited the Eco Park, and from there we headed straight to our stay in Smoky Falls Mai Fi Resort, where we stayed and relaxed for the day. The location of the resort was very unique as the location was in a cliff of a hill and that too outside the city of cherrapunjee. From there one can plan for a trek to the famous Double dekker living root bridge which is some 5000 stairs away.

Day 3 - We checked-out from the resort by 11 am. Next on our travel list was Dawki. A place known for transparent river, if one plans to travel in winters, the river in dawki is so crystal clear that we can see the river bed and the whole river goes transparent due to the clean water. We took a boat ride which we did after a lot of bargaining. Professional photographers, street vendors are available nearby.

After thoroughly enjoying in the river and boat ride for an hour or so, we headed to have lunch at the Jiva Resort. The ambience of the resort, the garden was very beautiful. We took many photos and the lunch was also delicious.

It is said the best is to be kept for the last. Little did we have any idea that this will fit apt on our travel list when we visited the Krang Shuri Falls. What a mesmerising view. From personal experience, the falls can literally hypnotise you and even after staring it for hours, you will feel to look at it once more.

The place also has facilities for night camping for group travellers. Had we been in group then would definitely go for camping which was right next to the falls.

Finally, our trip came to an end and we headed directly to Guwahati from there and arrived Guwahati by 11 pm and checked in an Hotel for our stay.

Day 4 - Agra gaye and Taj Mahal nai gaye.. similar is with Guwahati and Kamakhya Temple and Brahmaputra River. We checked-out from our Hotel and headed to Kamakhya Temple to seek blessings of Mother Goddess. On the way we also witnessed the raging waters of River Brahmaputra.

Our driver dropped us at Guwahati Airport. With this our tour to the Abode of Clouds came to an end thereby recreating memories to last for lifetime.

Thank you...
